Slow Talk announce EP details

Melbourne’s Slow Talk are a rare and unique gem – music of such beauty and craftsmanship comes along only so often – formed by its surroundings and experience. This new alternative two piece, comprised of vocalist James Butler and guitarist Ash Fuller, are brand new to the world, but their music speaks volumes of the wisdom and age and care in their craft beyond their years.

Today they bring the news of their debut release, an EP entitled ‘New Vernacular’, that will see it’s release on Friday April 27th. The announcement of this debut EP comes with the first taste of the EP, in the form of first single Golden. The EP will be available for Pre-Order from Friday March 16 at iTunes and Bandcamp and Golden will be available as a single on iTunes & Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon and more.

According to Ash, First single Golden is “an exploration of our desire for people that physically fit the ideals we look for in a partner, whether they be people we briefly encounter in our daily lives, models we see on Instagram, or celebrities. It discusses our ability to extrapolate the little we know of these people and develop high opinions of them.”

Based in Melbourne, Australia, the pair has been writing in tandem since 2014, sharing a love for emotionally expressive music and progressive songwriting. The pair are influenced by bands like Citizen, Circa Survive, Gleemer, Emarosa, and Turnover – and on a composition level, inspired by bands like Gang of Youths, Bon Iver, and The National. Slow Talk’s DIY approach has seen the pair oversee not only the musical production of their songs but the construction of the band’s visual and auxiliary content as well.

James, vocalist for Slow Talk, attempted to describe the process of writing the music for this EP – “New Vernacular forms a coming-of-age journal, capturing the dire and challenging internal dialogue experienced throughout periods of grief and transformation. The song-writing process was a relentless and cathartic necessity for us, something that is reiterated in the record’s pervading sense of honesty and release.”

Slow Talk’s EP ‘New Vernacular’ will be released on Friday April 27 and will be available for Pre-Order from this Friday March 16 on iTunes, Google Play and Bandcamp, with single Golden becoming available same day at iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp and Amazon Music as well.
