CLONING’S FELIX PARKER’S TOP 5 AUSTRALIAN ALBUMS

  1. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – The Boatman’s Call

The songwriting is incredible on this album and has all of my favourite things about Nick’s lyricism – from the biblical allusions to Greek mythology references. The whole record has such a sombre, haunting mood and it’s my favourite of his many great works.

  1. Blue Sky Mining – Midnight Oil

Super important album and the guitar playing has been a big influence on our own writing. ‘King of The Mountain’ goes hard and we used it as our walk on song for our last national tour.

  1. Karnivool – Sound Awake

Perth represent! This album really resonates with us for how they’re able to use such complex time signatures and yet make the songs still groove and pulse so effortlessly. Love the unconventional song structures, band dynamics and use of dissonance in their guitar playing.

  1. Deep Sea Arcade – Outlands

Nic and I (Felix) have been massive fans of this band and album since high school. The melodies are so pure and every synth on this album has so much depth. Every song on this album is good and it’s been a big influence on our own development as musicians and songwriters.

  1. Yves Klein Blue – Ragged & Ecstatic

Fantastic album by a criminally underrated band. I saw Yves Klein Blue as a kid at Mojos in Fremantle and the singer signed my poster. I still have it somewhere. Their music is so unique, I love the bluesy piano and energy in their vocals.
