Tilly Fenton’s Top 5 Most Inspirational Female Artists

Hi! I’m Tilly Fenton, an indie-pop singer-songwriter from Melbourne and I write songs about all the messy, exciting, and confusing parts of growing up. My music is honest, fun, and a little nostalgic, and I love creating songs that people can dance to, cry to, and everything in between.

  1. Lizzy McAlpine

Her songwriting is so beautifully intimate and devastating. She has a way of making you feel like you’re right there in the story with her, and that level of honesty is something I always strive for. Her songs are so comforting to me and her album “five seconds flat” is one of my favourite albums and inspired so much of my own sound.

  1. Taylor Swift

She’s been one of my biggest inspirations since I was little. The way she tells stories through her lyrics, capturing such specific details but making them feel universal. I also really admire Taylor’s incredible work ethic, and it’s really inspiring to see how far she has come.

  1. Olivia Rodrigo

I love Olivia’s really fun angsty pop rock songs, and I took a lot of inspiration from them in the process of writing and recording my own music. She writes about heartbreak and vulnerability, but still makes it fun and timeless. Her honesty pushes me to be bold in my own songwriting.

  1. Gracie Abrams

What I love about Gracie is how effortless and vulnerable her music feels. She has this quiet, confessional style that makes you feel like you’re reading straight from her journal, and it reminds me to lean into the softer, more intimate side of songwriting.

  1. Sabrina Carpenter

I love how playful and witty she is with her songwriting. She doesn’t take herself too seriously but still writes songs that are genuine, catchy, and full of personality. It inspires me to bring more cheekiness into my own music.
