Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers are blessing the world with their grunge rock sound, reeling in new fans after playing multiple BIGSOUND showcases in Brisbane last week.

The Canberra act have shared stages with acts such as Polish Club, Bleeding Knees Club, Northeast Party House, Alex Lahey, Press Club, Spiderbait and Slowly Slowly. They’ve also played festivals Canberra Groovin The Moo, and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival Sydney. Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers is made up of Anna Ryan, Scarlett McKahey, Neve van Boxsel and Jaida Stephenson.

Their BIGSOUND sets had audiences in awe. The nostalgia of the 90s alt rock sound mixed with their vibrancy on stage was more than enough to have crowds letting loose.

Who are you most excited to see at BIGSOUND 2019?

Definitely keen to see Flossy, Dulcie and The Buoys.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned this year?

Always have a hydralite before bed.

What’s the best part about making music?

Making music has given us the fab opportunity of travelling all over Australia and meeting some of the loveliest people in the world (looking at you RAAVE TAPES) We are the luckiest gals that we get to do this and are eternally grateful to everyone who’s supported along the way.

When are you at your most creative?

We’re most creative on the first Tuesday of every month at 12:31pm, but we write/work on our songs in Jaida’s garage and find that her homemade granola helps the creative juices flow!

Who do you look to for musical inspiration?

Whenever we play gigs with bands that we haven’t seen before we always come away with a tonne of new ideas for our own set! God bless Australian bands for providing the goods.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Jaida is currently listening to VengaBoys, however Neve is tapping her foot along to some cheeky Black Eyed Peas (Dum Diddly specifically). Anna prefers a bit of Justin Timberlake at the moment, and Scarlett is still listening to “Jellyfish” by Slowly Slowly (she has been for months now).

What are you most excited about coming up for Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers?

We are so keen to have a huge end to this year at Spilt Milk and then Lost Paradise. Catch us counting down the seconds of 2019 and giving Jaida a sloppy smooch to bring in the new year!
