Attention all Shrimptech devotees! With one month to go and three shows already sold out, the countdown is on until Swedish post-punk provocateurs Viagra Boys unleash their chaotic, cathartic infinite anxiety tour across Australia and New Zealand. With final tickets on sale now, read on to discover who’ll be joining the ‘Man Made Of Meat’ rockers on the road down under…
Few artists can boast a string of Top 10 records, international tours, an ARIA nomination, an album temporarily banned in South Australia, and cease-and-desist letters from theme parks. For the better part of eight years, Melbourne mischief-makers Private Function have carved out a reputation as one of our most explosive, unpredictable live bands – making them the perfect main support for Viagra Boys at all Australian shows.
Meanwhile, opening across two sold-out nights in Auckland – as well as in Brisbane – are Northern Rivers, NSW agitators Mini Skirt. Hitting like a sunburn with a dry, stinging take on modern punk, the band has rattled the walls of every pub, bar, basement, dungeon, and DIY venue in the country. Their jagged, raw, politically charged sound continues to win fans, including acts like Amyl and The Sniffers, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, COFFIN, and Sleaford Mods. All grit and no glamour – don’t miss them.
Finally, getting the party started at the Sydney show is opener The Gnomes. Born in the backstreets of Frankston, VIC, and shaped by Melbourne’s thriving underground scene, The Gnomes arrive armed with tight hooks, classic songwriting, and a love of rock & roll that runs deep. Channelling the melodic punch of The Kinks, early Beatles, and The Easybeats, the quartet has been building buzz gig by gig, carving out their place one set at a time.
