Top 5 tips for Aussies visiting Ireland
- The Guinness storehouse, Dublin. It’s a bit of a cliche but well worth a couple of hours of your time. A nice tour and a nice pint at the end with a great view of the city.
- The Ruby sessions, every Tuesday night in Doyle’s pub, Dublin. This is a hidden gem of a singer songwriter night. Always amazing talent on show and often surprise appearances by huge acts who are travelling through (Ed Sheeran, Hozier, Damien Rice have all graced the stage).
- Dingle, co Kerry. If you have enough time on your trip try make the journey to the south west corner of Ireland to a little town called Dingle. It’s a beautiful place with great music, art, and lovely people.
- Croke Park, Dublin in the summer. If you happen to find yourself in Dublin on a Sunday in the summer, try get to visit our national sports stadium for a game of hurling or football. It’s a rough sport, similar to AFL in ways, except these guys don’t get paid. It’s an amateur sport but there’ll still be almost 80,000 supporters there for the big games. It’s an experience!
- Galway is a great city too on the west coast. Well worth a visit. Great pubs, music and a lot of student life. Some nice music venues there too such as the Roisin Dubh.
