[SPEAKING VOLUMES] THE KITE MACHINE’S Top 5 Bands Right Now

Before The Kite Machine head off on their huge, 10 show Sinister Sound tour, they stopped by to give us the top five bands they’ve been spinning lately.

Biffy Clyro – Last year Levi and Liam traveled to Europe and Ireland. Muse happened to be playing a festival in Belfast when we were there and Biffy was co-headlining. We’d seen/heard of Biffy here and there before this show, but seeing them perform so close to home had shed a completely different light on them for us. From the start of the set till the last note we we’re froffing our jocks off and have been smashing their discography ever since. On top of this, a huge TKM fan from Melbourne won tickets to see and meet Biffy at an intimate acoustic show at Triple M Studios and asked Levi if he wanted the spare ticket! Liam and Kane were a little jelly.

Dave Matthews Band – DMB are one of Kanes all time favourite bands, so much so that when they came to Australia a couple of years ago, Kane bought 2 tickets to both the Sydney and Melbourne shows. Recently Levi has taken the plunge into the seemingly endless collection of studio and live albums, and has emerged a new man with a furious and burning love for Carter Beauford.

Nine Inch Nails – Liam came into band practise the other day with the good news that NIN had a new album out (Bad Witch). He showed us his favourite track from said album (God Break Down the Door) and we all shat our dicks off (a good thing).. do yourselves a favour people!

Vaudeville Smash – Recently Vaudeville Smash have slip-slid their way into high rotation  on our music radar. There’s so little not to love here. It seems necessary but also highly inappropriate to list the activities that VS would make the perfect soundtrack for…

Muse – Muse will always be one of the core reasons we play the music we do. Before we knew each other, most of the few times (that we know of) that we were all in the same place at the same time were at Muse concerts. This year Kane bought Levi a ticket to see the Muse Drones tour, at the Movies. So all three of us went to the cinema and watched in awe at the spectacular money pit of a show that only Muse are capable of. It was cute as all get out.
