The Vines original line-up reunite to join Jet for their Enmore Theatre and Metro Theatre Shows!
Almost exactly 14 years to the day since the original Vines line-up played their legendary last show together at Sydney’s Annandale Hotel in celebrated and volatile circumstances (bass player Patrick Matthews walked off stage mid-set and into a cab, never to return to the band), the incendiary rockers will reunite for two very special shows supporting JET on the Sydney dates of their upcoming Get Re-Born tour.
Jet and The Vines toured together through the USA in 2004 and made lifelong friendships in the process. After their 2018 Get Re-Born tour was announced, Jet extended the invitation to their fellow musical travelers to join them in their hometown and were delighted to have their offer accepted. These are sure to be two incredibly memorable nights of rock’n’roll!
Tickets for the Enmore Theatre show on the 15thAnniversary Get Re-Born tour have sold out, with limited tickets still available for the second Sydney show on Wednesday May 30 at the Metro Theatre.

The Vines line-up, consisting of front man/guitarist Craig Nichols, bassist Patrick Matthews, guitarist Ryan Griffiths and drummer Hamish Rosser, will perform songs from their critically acclaimed first two albums, Highly Evolved and Winning Days, the records which spawned monster hits and rock radio mainstays like Get Free, Outtathaway and Ride.
The Vines live performances of the early to mid 2000’s are now the stuff of legend. Always balanced on a wire and buzzing with an unpredictable energy, their shows were genuinely unhinged and thrilling. Audiences were enthralled with no idea of what might happen next. No-one ever left a Vines show without a story to tell. Just ask David Letterman. It was on his Late Show that The Vines delivered one of the wildest, most rock’n’roll TV performances of all time, ending with Nichols dive-bombing into Rosser’s drum kit, a squall of feedback and an incredulous Letterman asking “Is he all right?”.
Propelled by an enamored UK music press, The Vines took the world by storm in the early 2000s, ushering in a new golden age of garage rock alongside The Strokes, The White Stripes and The Hives. Effortlessly fusing the melodic songwriting nous of 60s rock with the dynamic ferocity of grunge, their debut album Highly Evolved sold over 1.5 million copies, going gold in the US and UK, while soaring to platinum status here in Oz. Along with Jet, they were one of Australia’s greatest musical exports of the naughties, appearing live at the VMAs and on the cover of US Rolling Stone, the first Aussie band to do so since Men At Work 20 years earlier.
Jet unleashed their debut album Get Bornfifteen years ago. With global sales of more than 6.5 million albums, Get Bornwas certified 10 times platinum in Australia and spawned the singles that made Jet famous the world over – Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Look What You’ve Done, Rollover DJ andGet Me Outta Here.
To coincide with the tour, Jet will release the Get Born: Live At The Forum album on May 25 –available to purchase on CD, digital and vinyl formats. You can pre-order the album here.
